Content Creator and Marketing Expert:
Meet Boogie Bey, a 28-year-old content creator and marketing expert hailing from East Baltimore. Boogie Bey’s journey began in 2010 when he started recording “day in the life” vlogs for YouTube, showcasing his freestyle rap skills and creating funny school videos that highlighted the humor and adventures of him and his friends at Dunbar High School.
Growing Fan Base:His entertaining content caught the attention of students from other public high schools, garnering him a growing fan base. In 2019, Boogie Bey’s life took a new turn when a family friend approached his stepfather about taking over a struggling carryout business. Recognizing the opportunity to help his family and showcase his marketing skills, Boogie Bey, also known as Trey Boogie, stepped up.
Everybody Loves Food & Comedy:He embarked on an aggressive advertising campaign, posting 10-15 Instagram videos a day featuring the carryout’s delicious food with humorous phrases in the background. Boogie Bey even created his own signature wing flavor, the “Boogie Buffalo Wings,” which quickly gained popularity throughout the city. The introduction of “75 cent wing Wednesday” further boosted their reputation, making it affordable for kids to enjoy five wings for just $3.75.
Booming Business:Business boomed, and in late 2019, Boogie Bey’s carryout had the opportunity to cater for renowned artist Megan Thee Stallion at the Winter Fest. He was also booked to sell food at Baltimore’s city high school football season opener, attended by a crowd of 2,000 people.
Inspired by Success:
Inspired by his success in the food industry, Boogie Bey decided to venture into the music world. He established his own label, Boogie Approved Records, and began working with talented artists such as Lor Dae Tyso, Zone 18 Will, Yne Sosa, and Baby Mal, among others. Before signing any artists, he wanted to prove his ability to create catchy and viral music.
